Gary is a member of the IET, and has over 20 years of experience working in both the public and private sector in the area of Information and Communications technology. Gary has worked for various companies in the Scottish high-tech sector as well as a number of Scottish local authorities in specialist areas such as the Police, Finance and currently Tayside Fire Authority for whom he has worked for the last 12 years.

Shaping the strategic direction of Communications and Information Technology at both local and national level, Gary has become a key player in the modernisation of the British Fire Service which has undergone some dramatic changes following the UK national strike in 2002, and has over the course of the last 12 months overseen the successful delivery of a Unified Communications system to all 800 personnel at some 24 Fire stations within the Tayside operational area.
